I Made Butter!

Well, today I decided to try my hand at making butter. I used this tutorial to show me how. I had alot of fun and it was sooooo cool to see the process happen.


I used 64 fluid ozs of heavy whipping cream.
Here's the cream coming to room temperature

Thankfully I have an automatic whisk that I was able to use to make the butter.

Here it is becoming more stiff

Here it is turning to butter and separating from the buttermilk.

I got about 1 quart of buttermilk from it. Which homemade buttermilk tastes pretty darn good.

Here it is while I'm still trying to get all the buttermilk out.

Here I am rinsing the butter with water to completely clean out the buttermilk. I probably rinsed and stirred it 15-20 times. I wanted to make sure it was really clean :D

Here it is all finished. The butter in my tupperware is in my refrigerator waiting to be used. And the two wrapped up are in my freezer.

It tastes really good!!!

Peach Crisp

Today I made some peach crisp with some fresh peaches my mommy brought me. We had sooooo many I needed to do something with them before they went bad.

Using my fresh ground pastry flour :D

First Cart Cover Attempt

Here is my first cart cover. I looked at some pics and just kinda "winged" it. I think I made the leg openings to big. This cover is being demonstrated on a Food Lion cart. But I think the Walmart carts are alot "deeper" than this one. So we'll have to see. This is the first time Jhet has ever sat in a cart. To bad we only came to get the pictures and didn't actually "use" the cart...lol. I also wanted this so we would have a cover for the highchairs when we go out to eat.

I still have to add the seat belt to this which will be happening with in the next month or so.

The contrasting fabric on the other side of this is green.

Laudry Detergent

Finally!!!!! I made my laundry detergent. I tried it on my laundry and it came out great. Hopefully soon I can use homemade soap to make this. Thanks Gloria for the tutorial!

Newest Design

Well, here is the newest design for my next diaper. I was in the process of making the diaper when my serger broke :( So now I won't be able to finish the diaper anytime soon so I figured I would go ahead and post a pic of the applique so I would have something new posted....lol.

Ok, as much as I wanted to end it up there I will tell ya what my plans are. Hopefully this weekend I'm gonna get the fabric for the back of Trin's quilt and get that finished soon. I plan on making my laundry detergent and I'm making a diaper for my niece. Once I get a few more things hung up in my sewing room maybe I'll take some pics :D

Black Skull Diaper

Here is my latest diaper. I think this is the best one so far. I love the applique skull on the back. I'm also glad that it has snaps. I'm excited about trying it out!

Longies

I finished knitting this pair of longies for Jhet last night. I still need to add the drawstring though. I made them a little long in the legs so he could wear them for a while. However I think the rise needs to be bigger. I have alot of changes planned for this pattern the next time I knit it up. Overall I am pleased with this pair.

Happy 3rd Bday...

...to my little blog!! I can't believe I've been sewing and blogging for 3 years now. It feels great. Hopefully I will have another 3 great years and will be able to see my talents increase even more!

Here is Trin with her newest purse. The Grandma of her three best friends made her this purse so she would have one like her friends! She loves having a purse that is the same as Mya and Tira. Thanks so much Cindy, she loves it!

Here is a wool cover I made today from a recycled sweater. This pattern turned out ok, but I think nex time I'm gonna try a diffrent one. I made the legs long so he could wear it longer.

Update

Well, I still haven't figured out what I'm gonna make for the Christmas swap...lol. I am now starting to work on Jhet's swim diapers for this summer. I'm also gonna be going this week to get my material for the napkin swap. I also plan to work on a pair of recycled longies for Jhet. So in a nutshell that is what's going on. So hopefully in a few days I'll have some pics up of my latest projects :)

Trin's New Gown

Here is a pair of pajamas I have been working on for weeks. Slowly cutting out a piece here and a piece there. Sewing it a little bit at a time. But I finally finished it and she loves it. I want to get some more fabric and make her a few more.

Birthday Gifts

Well, this year my birthday fell on Good Friday. My hubby took me out to a nice dinner and made me a wonderful cake...he also bought me a yummy one from DQ.
Here are the gifts I recieved from my sister.
First is an apple salt and pepper shakers. It is too cute!

Then she sent me some of my favorite chocolates from Hawaii!!!!!

These are the gifts I received from my friend Chrisiti. First is a beautiful tart warmer with LOTS of wonderful smelling tarts to burn.

Second is a an embroidered dish towel. No the spot wasn't there when she gave it to me...that was courtesy of my children :)
I also recieved some money from my mil and really nice candles from my bil and sil.

Christmas Swap Gifts

Here are two of the swap gifts I have received so far. I have one more to get plus I still have to make mine to send out. Doreen and I have both been slowed down by our new little bundles.

New Wipes

Here are some cloth wipes and a burp cloth that my friend Chrsiti's little girl Chloe made for our new baby. She did such a good job making these.

Baby Legs

Here are some baby legs I whipped up today. I can't believe how easy they are to make. The pair in the middle I bought before Jhet was born and the two pairs on the side Jhet received as Christmas gifts so I could make him some baby legs from his uncle and aunt. He's sleeping now, but hopefully I can get some action shots later.

Our newest blessing is here! Jhet Elisha arrived November 29, 2007 at 9:42am weighing 7lbs 6ozs and 20 1/2". He is healthy and we are both doing great!!
