Knitted Rag

Ok...here is my first knitted project finished. I just kept knitting till I used all my yarn. That's why you see black at the bottom to finish it off. I'm gonna use it in the kitchen for a rag. Can't wait to start my next knitted project :)

Soldier's Quilt Top

Well, here it is the quilt top for my soldier's quilt. The fabrics look a little different than in real life. I really love how it turned out. I had intended to put interrupted borders on it, but decided it wouldn't look right unless I had a different type of material.

Here is a close up of the fabrics used.

So Excited!

I have finished my quilt top (minus borders) for my soldier's quilt, and it has come out so good. I am very pleased. The fabric I chose came out great. I was so afraid it wasn't going to look good, but I love it and Shane does too. I am relieved to say the least. I didn't want it coming out all ugly. Anyways just had to post...excited ya know?

The Runner on the Table

Another angle of the runner.

Here are some pics of the runner on the table. Woody was kind enough to take these pics for me since I forgot my camera today.

Knitting...

Well, for a while now I have wanted to start knitting. My friend Doreen and I had planned on learning together a few years ago, but I was unable. I have been putting it off sense I don't have time to do it and have so many other projects I am working on. But the other day I found the perfect time to knit...while I am outside watching the kids play! So today one of my wonderful friends Doreen went with me to Joanne's and helped me get stuff to start with, and showed me how to knit. This is what I have finished so far, it will be a dish rag. I was only allowed a small spending budget until I prove I am truely intreseted in knitting. So I am in my trial faze. So we shall see how it goes. Sorry about the pic quality I had a hard time getting a decent pic of it.

Quilted Table Runner

Ok....here it is...the table runner. It was to long for me to get a pic of the whole thing, but you can still get a feel of what it looks like. The runner ended up being 104" long. A little shy of how long I originally intended it to be. I used the echo quilting technique to quilt this runner. Took me a long time. I am so glad it is finished. I made this runner for my mom's table so she would have a runner that actually "fit".

Here is one of the ends. Hard to see the quilting on it.

Here is a pic of the back with the quilting.

Just a diffrent angle.

Thread Rack

Well, here is my thread rack...yea I know kinda empty. I need to join K's thread co opt because I have been running through thread like crazy while quilting. Anyways this is it. Also we have found a way to make my corner of heaven even more wonderful. We have found a way to be able to keep my cutting table up all the time so I don't have to keep taking my stuff off of it. So now I have some organizing to do.

Stuff...

Well, I got my thread rack and my other things today...yay! LOL, the cashier asked me if the thread rack was a glass rack. Once I told her thread she was like."Oh I see". Kinda small for glasses, unless it's for shot glasses. I also ordered my cutting table today, it should be here in about 2-4 weeks >.<
Kind of a ways off, but atleast it's coming.

My Little Corner of Heaven on Earth

Here is my sewing area. You can see my bin of scrap fabrics. I have learned that I do not buy fabric unless I already know what to do with it. I have two diffrent materials in there I bought this summer and still don't know what to do with them...a yard and a half of each! So do to that fact I do not stash fabric. You can see my carrying case for my machine on top of my fabric bin. Also I bought my new 34" cutting mat today. Which is gonna be sooo great. I have a few more things I wanna go get for storing and organizing. I may get those in the next few days. Oh yea, the 34" cutting mats at joanne's are 43.99. They were on sale for 30% off...umm...no thanks. I got the same mat namebrand and all for 23.89 at Walmart (Shane was happy about that). And of course some of the other things I wanted were of course cheaper at Walmart.

Here is a pic of the new quitling things I got today. First up is my new lip edge ruler that is 35" long to go with my new huge cutting mat. Next, is my 6" triangle ruler. Third, is my Kwik Klip. It's a tool for pin basting quilt layers, and last but not least is a point turner and presser. It's a tool for applique and pressing seems. We were also going to be getting my cutting table today, but they were out. So hopefully they will get some more in Tuesday and I will have that then. I can't wait to get it. I will post pics of it when it is here. Thanks to my momma for blessing me with these wonderful tools and my cutting table.

Fabric Selection...

...I suck at it. Today I went to get my fabric for my soldier's quilt and well I suck at picking fabric. I will be lucky if mine comes out half as good as K's. It's also hard when you have to narrow your selection down as not to choose flowers, hearts, butterflies...you know "girly" prints.

Trin's new quilt!

Here is Trin trying to hold up her new quilt!

Here is the front of the quilt. I used the same little bundle of material that I had used for Mycah's quilt. I still put batting in this and quilted it. I used white eyelet ribbon to finish off the edges instead of using binding. I thought it was a really cute way to finish this quilt especially since it had white eyelet material in the quilt.

Here is the back of the quilt.

Here is pic of one of the quilted flowers.

Here is a pic of some of the quilting. It's four hearts with their points touching.

Here is a close pic of the edge. You can see some of the quilting a little bit.

Another update...

Well, I am running low on my thread sooo it won't be until tomorrow or Tuesday that I get more. So again the table runner is on hold. I did get half the echo quilting finished which didn't take me too long. So when I get more thread I should get it finshed pretty fast.
ps... For those of you who know about the troubles with my walking foot...Shane came home and spent about 20 min on it and got it fixed so it is working again!!!

Update...

For those of you anxiously awaiting the debut of the table runner...I am hoping to have it finished in a couple of days. I have ALOT of quilting to do on it...remember it's a huge runner, 106 inches long. After a while all the lines start to run together...lol. I have finished the quilting on the stars and have started the echo quilting.
