My Area in the Works

Here is my space which I have been working in the past few days. I've been working on Mycah's quilt. These pics are from Karina's challenge to show our areas as they are!

Here is my cutting table and what's on it for now. I'm in the process of still cutting out the stuff for Mycah's quilt.

Here is the stuff behind my sewing machine. All the shapes I have been cutting for Mycah's quilt.

All the stuff behind my door.

Selected Fabrics for Mycah's Quilt

Here is the fabric selection for Mycah's quilt. I have ALOT of cutting to do. But this quilt is gonna be so worth it. Poor Mycah has been waiting for his quilt so long. He has watched many a quilt and quilted project pass by all the while asking if that was his. When I brought home the fabric he liked all of them which I was glad. So hopefully it won't take me to long to finish.

Serger Cover

Here is my cover for my serger. It's a little big, but it works. The bottom of it I serged. I'm feeling blah today so I didn't do much to it and don't have much to say about it.

Up close pic of the print.

Over all pic of where my serger is located to my sewing machine.

Uuugghhhh...

I finished all my books!!!! What am I gonna do??? I finshed both my books and then come to found out there is a third book...which is great...only it isn't written yet!!!!! Do you know how horriable that is? To finish a book only to find out I have to wait MONTHS for the last book!!!!

Well, I'm gonna have to suck it up and go get some more...maybe from the same author. I have been enjoying reading these past fews days. I had forgotten how wonderful it is. Before children I use to read all the time. I think when my nest is empty I will be reading alot.

Heaven??

Ok, so maybe I'm not in heaven, but I went to the library today to get books. I LOVE to read. It's been a while since I have gone to the library for myself. We usually go weekly, the kids and I. But I never get books for myself, because I am so busy with my sewing and quilting I don't have time to read. So since I am banned from Joann's till Friday I figured now would be a great time to read. It was nice being able to look at books again. I got two books I think I'm gonna enjoy and "Gone with the Wind" as a back up incase I dont' like the other ones. So I probably won't be sewing this week. This will be a nice break.

My Friendship Wallhanging

Here is my completed friendship wallhanging. A few months ago 3 of my friends and I each made squares to make wallhangings. I finally finished mine. I didn't do to much quilting to it. Two of the squares are stitched in the ditch. One has quilting in the strips and the last has stars quilted all on it. I have it hanging over my cutting table. I was gonna take more pics but my batteries were running low. Maybe next time I can.
You can see Karina's finshed wallhanginghere and Doreen's here. I'm not sure our friend Christi has finished her's yet.

Korker Hairbow

Here's Trin with her cheesey smile and her new korker hairbow. The colors we used for this one was white and pink. Some more just came out of the oven. We haven't gotten the right clips yet to attach them too so hopefully today we will be able to get the ones we want, but this one is working for now. I think Trin's favorite part was picking out her ribbon. Thanks Just Another Army Wife for the great tutorial. I think we will be making more :)

Quilted Table Topper

Ok, here it is! The table topper I made for a good friend as a going away present. I will be giving it to her tomorrow. I used the double nine patch method for this quilt. You can't see any quilting from this angle. This is the most quilting I have ever done on a project and I had sooooo much fun doing it. I am very pleased with the outcome. Shane is very impressed as well and he's a hard audience to please :) I used alot of free hand quilting on this quilt. By the time I finished I had really gotten good at it. This is really one of my better quilted projects. I really enjoy making things for people. Click on the pics for a larger view.

Here is the back...yes I know the top half is darker. When I went to get more backing they had a new bolt and the dye lot was diffrent. It's more obviouse in the pic than in RL. And my little tag at the bottom :)

I quilted little X's in all the tiny blue squares and hearts in all the medium white squares.

In this pic you can see the heart border in the blue.

Here is the design and stippling in the large white blocks. I just so love how this turned out.

Closer Angle.

Future Quilter!

Here is Trin on my bed looking at my quilting books while I was finishing up the table topper. She was looking at the pictures and telling me what I "needed"...marking pens, saftey pins....lol. It was so cute. I told her to hold on and I went to grab the camera and this is what I got.

Skirting Around

Ok...here is a skirt I made tonight. It was one pannel that you buy and it has the instructions on it. I had to piece it, put a zipper and eye and hook in, and put the waist band on. My hubby gave it a thumbs down :( Said he wasn't feeling it. To be honest I don't know if I'm feeling it either. It seems a little long and "to" flowy. It's almost like a poodle skirt. Let me know what you guys think. Should I wear it or get rid of it? Oh yea and I used a rolled hem stitch on it...which came out pretty good but not perfect.

Sneak Peek!

Here is just one of the squares of my "going away present". I wasn't gonna give a sneak peek then decided, hey why not? Actually, I was just bored...lol. This is one of my favorite squares. It reminds me of a wholecloth quilt. Which is what Shane wants for his quilt when I do it. I love the stippling in this quilt. I can't wait to finish this project and see the end result. I probably won't have it finished by tomorrow, but hopefully by the end of the weekend. This still has the quilting lines in it.

Yay...

...I'm back in business! I got the rest of my stuff to finish my going away present for my friend. Hopefully I will have it finished by Saturday. The kids have VBS all this week so I'm gonna have extra time to sew. I will probably have it finished before then, but you never know what kind of hang ups there are gonna be!

I'm still here...

Just been so busy this past week with vacation and all. Hopefully I will be finishing up some projects soon. I need to get my going away present finished soon! I just need to get some more backing and the batting. I'm looking forward to quilting that project. Can't wait to start on Mycah's quilt. It's gonna take some time, but I'm looking forward to the challenge. I wanna try to get them finished up because I have hopes of making quilts for Christmas presents this year. We will see how that goes and how much time I will have. Considering I will need to make around 7 or so.
We have been discussing having our third baby and when we are gonna start trying. It's dependent on a few things that have to happen first, but that should all work out just fine. If things do go according to "our plans" we will start trying in Feb. and have a baby by Christmas next year. We got some of our baby stuff out yesterday. Only because we were having to clean out the storage shed and we both couldn't believe how much baby stuff we have...lol. But it would only make sense since we have two other children. I guess you just forget how much stuff you "need" to take care of a baby (or think you need). Plus I still have ALL my boy stuff from Mycah. I think we pretty much have first names picked but are working on middle names for both sexes.

Grandma's Finished Quilt

Here is a pic of Grandma's finished quilt. My sister and I made this quilt for our Grandma. She was in a serious car accident and almost lost her life. But as of today she is recovering wonderfully and is doing so good for all that she has been through..including brain surgery. I was able to give the quilt to her today and she loved it. I think her favorite square was her families pic in the middle. I think she was very happy to have her family with her all the time. I used the turn and tie method for finishing off the quilt.

Here is a pic of the back. It's made of flannel. You can see a little bit where it is tied.
