Quilt Show

Friday Karina and I went to visit our friend Doreen and stay the night with her. Saturday we went to the Cabbarus County quilt show. While there I was blessed with these fat quarters. I also saw some other quilts that I want to make in the future. We also got little sewing machine key chains. We had a great time visiting with each other :)

Paper Piecing

Here is my first paper pieced project. Karina showed me how to paper piece tonight and it was so much fun. I really loved seeing how you can get such small pieces so accurate. This square measures 4 1/2" and will be a 4" square after sewing.

Here's a pic of the back with the pattern on it.

New Napkins

Here is a pic of the new napkins I'm making. Yea...nothing fancy, but I like 'em. They are backed with flannel and measure approx 9"x9". I stitched around the pictures to give a little more personality. I love making things that I can reuse and with the way the kids go through napkins these are the best. These are the second set I have made. I made my first set a little over a year ago and they are still holding up great. They are just stained, so after I get some more made they are gonna move to Shane's shop as rags. (wow, I love to reuse stuff...lol)

Here is the back of the napkins.

Churn Dash Bed Quilt

Here is Mycah's bed quilt finished. Sorry it's so dark. I am so pleased with it. This has been the most piece work I have done with a quilt. I sewed the binding on by hand which came out wonderful. The name of the pattern for this quilt is "Churn Dash". If you wanna see a brighter view of the quilt you can go here. I'm also gonna try post pics of it on Mycah's bed tomorrow.

Here is a pic of the back of the quilt.

Here is an upclose pic of the quilting in the border going around the quilt. The marking pencil hasn't been washed out yet.

Proud Mommy Moment

Well, this past Saturday Shane's grandpa passed away. Today was the funeral. After the funeral we went back to his grandma's house. I took the kids to a back room to change into play clothes. While we were back there I was focused on Mycah and helping him get out of his suit. The next thing I know Trin looks at me and says, "Can I eat this?" as she holds up a little pill (looked like maybe ibprofen, but idk). I was like oh my goodness no. I was so proud of her because we have talked with both of the children extensively about not eating things they find that look like candy. Because sometimes it's not and it could hurt them very bad or kill them. When we have taken medicine we always show them how it looks like candy but it's really not and it would hurt/kill them if they ate it. So I was soooooo proud and even more relieved that what we had taught her came back and she asked if she could eat it. If she had of eaten it I may not of known and wouldn't of known to help her.

On a side not I only have to bind the two short sides of the quilt and it will be finished!!!!

Mycah's Quiz

Here is the quiz I did for Mycah's learning learning style. Hmmm..if you know Mycah we know how accurate this is...lol.

What Is Your Learning Style? Quiz for Kids

You are a Kinesthetic Learner. You like to move. You feel blindfolded when you have to sit still at a table for hours. Anyone who calls you hyperactive, just doesnt understand that moving your large muscle groups helps your brain to process information. (Some people may have thought that you have a learning disability, but you probably just need extra time and space to move around and digest the facts.) You can learn best immediately after running laps around the backyard, doing chin-ups, or jumping rope, etc. because then your brain is fully activated and ready to receive information. Homeschooling

I took a quiz to see what kind of homeschooler I am. It's pretty accurate too. Especially when I saw all the choices. What kind are you!? I'll be looking O.O

What Type of Homeschooler Are You?

Mr. Potato Head You have your ideal of how things should look, but youre flexible enough to allow for change. You are not bothered by changing methods, mid-course if necessary. You use an eclectic combination of curriculum sources. Visit my blog: http://www.GuiltFreeHomeschooling.blogspot.com

Update

Well, right now I'm working on quilting the design into the borders of Mycah's quilt. I had one whole side finsihed only to find out I have to rip the whole thing out. I'm close to having that finished then I can quilt that side again then I wil only have two sides left and then the binding so it is coming along....slowly. It looks great though and I'm very happy with it. I haven't really been working on anything else. Karina and I are working on getting a craft night together for us and some friends, so we will see how that goes. Anyways that's all for now.
